Giving Your Old Office Furniture a Greener Goodbye

When it’s time to say farewell to your worn-out chairs and desks, EBS Office offers a smarter, greener way to part ways - with our Office Furniture Retirement Scheme.

Instead of ending up in landfill, your old furniture is carefully dismantled, and each material is thoughtfully separated for recycling or reuse:

• Wood & Board: All wood and board types are sorted and recycled in sustainable ways. Much of it is sent to large biomass burners that generate green energy, while some fuels our very own on-site biomass system - helping to heat our factories.
• Plastics: Using the Plastics Industry coding system (ISO11469:2016), we identify and separate each type of plastic. These are then processed into reusable pellets that go on to become new products - closing the loop.
• Metal: The steel and aluminium found in most office furniture are separated and sent off for recycling, where they can be reused again and again.
• Fabric & Foam: Fabric is sorted into vinyl, synthetic, and wool. Wherever possible, materials like wool are returned to our suppliers through a closed-loop recycling system. Foam is treated the same way - reused in manufacturing if removable, or responsibly disposed of if not.

It’s all part of our commitment to reducing waste, supporting circular economies, and helping businesses like yours make more sustainable choices—without the hassle.
